“Un Sestetto da Cork che estrae le angosce, le angustie e il dolore dal rock ‘n’ roll preferendone invece solo la bellezza. Bello, elegante e più ricco del comune folk, FRED è la band della gente, che suona per la gente. Immagina di ricevere un massaggio sul viso: questo è quello che fa la musica di FRED, ti massaggia il viso ma nient’altro, per la sua tecnica e la sua attenzione selettiva. Inoltre, ti porta al cinema e ti fa comprare una Coca-Cola e un pacchetto di noccioline” – così si definisce la band.
Il loro terzo album, ‘Go God Go’, è stato definito dalla critica come uno dei più validi usciti in Irlanda nel 2008. Con i primi tre singoli, ‘Running’, ‘Skyscrapers’ e ‘The Lights’, che riuniscono le tendenze nazionali simultaneamente, la loro reputazione e i loro fan sono cresciuti rapidamente, arruolandosi in massa nell’esercito di FRED ovunque vadano.
Musicalmente riprendono leggende come Sly Stone, Curtis Mayfield, Bill Withers e The Beach Boys mescolate con contemporanei come Wilco e The Flaming Lips.
‘Go God Go’ è stato registrato negli studi di Love Tap, a Cork, e mixato da Mark Wallis, che è uno dei maggiori produttori per esperienza e versatilità ed ha lavorato con U2, Talking Heads, The Smiths, Iggy Pop e The Stranglers.
Il singolo ‘Skyscrapers’ è stato premiato con il riconoscimento ‘Singolo della settimana’ dall’autorevole iTunes Canada, nell’ottobre 2008.

"A five piece from Cork who take the anguish, angst and pain out of rock 'n' roll opting instead to just be really good. Beautiful, smart, and wealthier than most regular folk, FRED are the people's band, making music for the people, by the super-people. Imagine getting a face massage, that's what FRED's music does, it massages your face but nothing else, for its selective in its technique. It also takes you to the cinema and buys you Coke and a bag of minstrels" Says the band.
Their third album, Go God Go, is being received with such critical mass it is being honed as one of the strongest Irish releases of 2008 ("Startingly good music" - Hotpress, "Saviours of Pop" - State). With the first three singles. Running, Skyscrapers & The Lights, taking over the national airwaves simultaneously, their live reputation and fanbase has grown at a rapid pace, enlisting droves into the Fred army everywhere they go.
Musically the acknowledge legends as Sly Stone, Curtis Mayfield, Bill Withers and The Beach Boys as well as tipping their hat to such contemporaries as Wilco and The Flaming Lips.
Go God Go was recorded in Love Tap Studios, Cork and mixed by Mark Wallis who is one of the most experienced and versatile producers around regarded by his peers as having the best pair of ears behind any studio having worked with U2, Talking Heads,The Smiths, Iggy Pop, and The Stranglers.
Single 'SKYSCRAPERS' was awarded iTunes Canada's influential "Single of the Week" accolade in October 2008
